Doctor Who: Touched By An Angel by Jonathan Morris

Doctor Who: Touched by an Angel

The Monster Collection Edition

by Jonathan Morris

In 2003, Rebecca Whitaker died in a road accident. Her husband Mark is still grieving. He receives a battered envelope, posted eight years ago, containing a set of instructions with a simple message: "You can save her."

As Mark is given the chance to save Rebecca, it’s up to the Doctor, Amy and Rory to save the whole world. Because this time the Weeping Angels are using Mark himself as a weapon to change history. Will the doctor stop mark or will the angels feast?

MY REVIEW

I love Doctor Who so I was very excited to read this book on my Kindle.  I have only read one other Doctor Who book but that has been years ago. I have been wanting to read more but with a super long list of books I want to read I just haven't really had the chance.

Anyway , I really like this book. It is very well written and you can really well imagine what is going on  and I felt it was just like as if I was reading an episode of the show.

If you are a Doctor Who fan I highly recommend this book.

I give this 5 out of 5

In Plain Sight (Stolen Hearts #3) By Kate Kelly

*I was given a free copy of this ebook for my honest review*

Rafe Pascotto reluctantly agrees to help his brother-in-law, FBI Special Agent Vince Gage, by keeping tabs on a suspected international jewel thief. Reluctant, that is, until he meets beautiful Bridget O’Neill.

Within minutes, Bridget recognizes Rafe for the rube he is, hooks him and publically hangs him out to dry. Unbelievable the man has come back for more because he thinks she needs protection. She’d enjoy the joke if she wasn’t so busy running from a past that’s about to catch up to her.

MY REVIEW

This is book three in the Stolen Hearts series by Kate Kelly.  I have read the first 2 books twice already and now read this new one once but I know I will read it again in the  future.

As you may have notice I do not read romance with suspense but I used to read this kind of books a lot in the past and yes I do like this kind of books but I am usually very picky. Anyways I love this book just as much as I loved the other 2 books in this series. I was hooked from the very beginning.  This book is very well written and if you like this kind of books it you will not be able to put this one down.

I don't have to read the other books in this series but I promise you you will want to read them because they are all so good. The other books in this series are Sleight of Hand and The Art of Deception.

I highly recommend this book and this series.

I give this 5 out of 5

The Wish by D S Affleck Review

*I was given a free copy of this ebook for my honest review*

If you could have your very own wish, what would it be? Fame, fortune, or magical powers?
Everyone dreams, but for Jamie Lomax this might just be a reality. By chance he discovers a magical orb which legend states has the power to grant him anything he so desires. But there's a catch. He has to earn the wish by helping five people, and he doesn't know who or when this might be.
Before he has a chance to explore this amazing opportunity, he meets with the true owner of the orb - an ancient warrior powerful beyond belief - whose appearance proves that the legend is true. However, if Jamie wants to see his wish granted, he will have only thirty days to fulfil the prophecy.
And if he fails? He forfeits his soul..

Abut the author:
D. S. Affleck was born in 1972 in Southend-On-Sea. The son of a clergyman, he moved to Dorset where his parents ran the Pilsdon community. Instead of becoming a man of the cloth, Affleck chose another vocation after his experiences of school both at Woodroffe in Lyme Regis and at Charterhouse. Today, Affleck teaches at a prep school in Beaconsfield, Buckinghamshire, near where he lives with his wife and children. A sequel to The Wish is already in the works.

MY REVIEW

This is such a wonderful book . I was hooked from the very beginning and I couldn't stop reading. Young Adult book is very well written and it will please young adult readers young and old.

This will be one I will most likely read again in the future.

I highly recommend The Wish.

I give The Wish 4 out of 5

Follies Past: a Prequel to Pride and Prejudice by Melanie Kerr Review

*I was given a free copy of this book for my honest review*

"I must now mention a circumstance which I would wish to forget myself, and which no obligation less than the present should induce me to unfold to any human being..."
So begins Mr. Darcy to lay before Elizabeth his faithful narrative of Mr. Wickham's villainy toward his sister, Georgiana. The facts he sets out are brief but potent. They contain a story unto themselves, and that story is the subject of this book.
Taking its facts from Austen’s own words, Follies Past opens almost a year before the opening of Pride and Prejudice itself, at Pemberley, at Christmas. Fourteen-year-old Georgiana has just been taken from school and is preparing to transfer to London in the spring. It follows Georgiana to London, to Ramsgate and into the arms of the charming and infamous Mr. Wickham.
To read this book is to step back into the charming world of Jane Austen’s England, to pass a few more hours with some of her beloved characters, sympathetically portrayed as they might have been before ever they came to Netherfield, and to discover a host of new characters each with engaging histories of their own. Authentic in its use of language and meticulously researched, it is a truly diverting entertainment.

 MY REVIEW

If you are a Jane Austin fan I think you will absolutely love this book as much as I do. I find this one is the prequel of Pride and Prejudice that I have ever read. It is so welly written that I now want to read Pride and Prejudice again.

If you love Pride and Prejudice like I do then I know you will love  Follies Past: a Prequel to Pride and Prejudice by Melanie Kerr.

I give this 5 out of 5.

Prince Charming- Paperback
Book Title: Prince Charming Author: S. Celi Genre: Mature Young Adult/New Adult Release Date: January 28, 2014 Hosted by:Book Enthusiast Promotions
Synopsis
School. Tests. Scholarships. Goals.
Senior class overachiever Geoff Miller thought he had it all figured out. All he needed to do was make it through the next six months, graduate, and get on with his life. College at the University of Virginia beckoned him-- and he just wanted to put the last horrible four years at Heritage High School in the "done" folder. Geoff just didn't count on two things: Laine Phillips, and sex. At first, his passing crush on the school princess seemed to Geoff like a distraction from a boring life in a snobby Greater Cincinnati suburb. Then one day, it turned into something more... Six months. Not that long, right? Meet the Author s. celiNew Orleans born Sara Celi has lived all over the United States. She calls the Greater Cincinnati area and the Queen City home. She has spent more than a decade working in journalism and broadcasting, with jobs both on-air and off-air at TV stations in Louisiana, Ohio, and Oklahoma. Her work has appeared in numerous online publications, magazines and newspapers, and she is a contributing author to Chicken Soup For The Soul: The Power of Positive. Sara graduated cum laude from Western Kentucky University in 2004. In her spare time, she likes to read, shop, write, travel, run long distances, volunteer with the Junior League, and fund raise for Cooperative for Education, a non-profit providing educational opportunities for Guatemalan kids. excerpt “Sure.” She bit her cherry-red lip, and watching her do it almost made me fall out of the chair. Still, she made no move to take a seat. “I wasn’t going to come over and talk to you—but, well, I just wanted to say that—well,” she broke off. “Never mind.” “Seriously, do you want to sit down?” I asked again. “Yeah.” She looked over her shoulder. “I just don’t want to be alone right now.” As I hurried to move my school stuff out of the way, she slid into the metal chair and tossed her own book bag on the floor. Then I just stared at her, because I didn’t know what to say, and I couldn’t figure out why she’d sat down next to me. It just didn’t make much sense. The library had plenty of open tables, and even more computer desks. Hell, she could have had a whole section to herself if she wanted it. So why me? Why me? WHY ME? “Have you started the paper?” I asked when the awkwardness became too much for me to bear. She nodded. “Yeah, last week. I’m about three quarters of the way done with the outline.” “Really?” “Yeah. I like English literature a lot, especially that time period.” I sat back, surprised. No one liked Langston’s class. No one. Right? And she didn’t seem like the English type, since she never talked much in that class. I had assumed she got in just because of who she was in school and the magic spell she seemed to have over everyone—even the teachers. “So, you’re telling me you like AP English?” She gave me a blank look, as if I shouldn’t be surprised about this. “Well, that’s awesome. I can’t get into it. At least, not that stuff we’re learning right now.” “It’s not that bad, Geoff. Some of it is kinda romantic.” She disappeared underneath the table and came back a few seconds later with a thick green binder, a blue pen, and her own iPad. She opened up the binder and pulled the iPad out of the case as a small smirk danced on her face. “Wait. Are you going to study here?” I paused. “With me?” “Sure I am. This is a library.” Laine winked. “You do know how these work, right?” “But I mean—” “And you look so—I don’t know—lonely sitting here all alone.” “So you just thought you’d plop down and study with me?” “What? Don’t you want me to?” She tilted her head and frowned, as if she didn’t understand why I’d asked the question. “That’s what people do in a library. They study. Sometimes together. Of course, I could always go study with one of the freshmen.” But even as she said this, she made no move to get up from the table we shared. Meanwhile, all the attention in the room had turned to her. Everyone in the library stared, transfixed. She was like that ring from The Lord of the Rings. My precious. Good fucking grief. Of course I would make that kind of lame analogy. Social Links

MY REVIEW

I liked this book. I thought it is well written but I think the format (for Kindle) wasn't done properly or something because a lot of "the" ended up as "e". Other than that it was good .

If you find this kind of thing interesting I think you will like this book.

Many questions are answered, but the drama is just beginning…
Redemption (Night School Vampire Hunter Trilogy) Novella#3
Darkness fell over Ame’ Academy when Angel plummeted into the gaping twilight of the abyss. Ismet, Bella Donna, Elin and Rafael were now left to pick up the pieces.
But those that loved Angel refused to believe she was gone; so the search for her and the truth begins. Plus the clock is counting down; the Beast has escaped its pit and so the group of friends, with the help of unlikely allies must face an ancient evil, and once again face the heartache of losing someone they love, to save the world from destruction once and for all.

SPECIAL FEATURES
The Making of Night School Vampire Hunter Trilogy Michelle Cornwell-Jordan

“Before concentrating on my writing and publishing, I was the Director of an before and after-school program for grades fifth thru eighth grade. The idea to focus my writing and on-line publishing endeavors… combining music and reading… actually stemmed from the kids. I had been repeatedly told by my Center kids, that kids that read do not listen to “cool” music and vice versa, so I wanted to show my kids something different. I launched a blog in January 2011 which interviews and spotlights Musicians and Authors…and I also began an on-line internet radio program called IndieReview Behind The Scenes Internet Radio through Blogtalk in March 2012.
This past November of 2013 we celebrated over 100,000 listens! I have since then acquired a co-host, Author Jamie White and three guest hosts for various segments, and music plays a huge part in all I do. Our goal is to have a platform and bring the readers and music listeners together.
It has become a very successful venture, it which I am very grateful.
Cecile Monique, a very talented music artist #GothRock has been extremely gracious to also take a hold of this vision, has jumped in bringing the vision of Night School Vampire Hunter Trilogy to a new level with her single #Kindred inspired by the second novella in the series.
I believe that a feature such as this, which deals the emerging and thriving on-line Indie community of Musicians and Authors, the local aspect and the Book plus the CD will make for a interesting feature for all ages.”
So for all my kid (readers) past and present…”Books & Cool Music really CAN go together!”

Queen Elizabeth's Daughter: A Novel of Elizabeth I by Anne Clinard Barnhill

*I was given a free copy of this eBook for my honest review*

Mistress Mary Shelton is Queen Elizabeth’s favorite ward, enjoying every privilege the position affords. The queen loves Mary like a daughter, and, like any good mother, she wants her to make a powerful match. The most likely prospect: Edward de Vere, Earl of Oxford. But while Oxford seems to be everything the queen admires: clever, polished and wealthy, Mary knows him to be lecherous, cruel, and full of treachery. No matter how hard the queen tries to push her into his arms, Mary refuses.

Instead, Mary falls in love with a man who is completely unsuitable. Sir John Skydemore is a minor knight with little money, a widower with five children. Worst of all, he’s a Catholic at a time when Catholic plots against Elizabeth are rampant. The queen forbids Mary to wed the man she loves. When the young woman, who is the queen’s own flesh and blood, defies her, the couple finds their very lives in danger as Elizabeth’s wrath knows no bounds.

MY REVIEW

As you might have notice I do not often read historical fiction novels but I do read some once in a while.

It is not often that I love a book in this genre but I admit that I loved this book. I read it last night and I ended up staying up late because I just couldn't put it down. This is very well written and I think if you are picky in this genre of novels you will just absolutely love this one.

I highly recommend .

The Terrorist's Daughters: T.O.G.G.L.E #1 by Brian Arthur Levene

* I was given a free ecopy of this book for my honest review*

Born in Chicago, Illinois, three sisters are uprooted and brought to Pakistan, after the terrorist attacks on 9/11/2001. After becoming oppressed and abused by their radicalized father and drug-sedated mother, two of the girls decide to run away from home and soon they discover their inner selves. One is a twelve-year-old blessed with a gift she does not know she has, the other, a seventeen-year-old proficient in the methods of psychological warfare. Along the way they encounter a handsome young man, and his family who are also looking to start a new life away from their terrorist state. Their travels takes them to Afghanistan, Dubai, Mexico and the United States, leaving a chaotic but interesting trail behind.

Developing a family among a group of outcasts, including a young Asian girl who is prolific in computer hacking, their adventures continue with the girls making daring escapes from authorities, and fighting Al Qaeda extremists working for their father. The Terrorist's Daughter all leads to a dramatic conclusion revolving around love, faith, family, and the potential destruction of an entire city.

MY REVIEW

I started reading this one a few days ago and I have to say I am very happy to say that I love this one. It is very well written and if it weren't for the fact that I had a busy weekend I would have finished reading it more quickly.
This is one that I just couldn't stop reading. This book is book one in the series and I just can't wait to read the next book.

I highly recommend this.

Dangerous Dream (Dangerous Creatures 0.5) by Kami Garcia and Margaret Stohl Ebook Review

* I was given a free ecopy of this book for my honest review*

The series follows fan favorite characters (and on-again-off-again couple) Link and Ridley as they embark on fresh (and sure to be epic!) adventures. The series kicks off with the enovella "Dangerous Dream," available for download on December 17, followed by the release of the first book, "Dangerous Creatures," on May 6, 2014.

MY REVIEW

I admit that I have never read any of the books in the Beautiful Creatures series. I have wanted to but I really wasn't sure if I should buy it or not so I was happy to review this novella.

I liked this novella. It is well written and now I do want to read the series and I think once my book buying ban is over I might buy the series.

This novella is short but it catches the reader up with each of the characters (mostly of Ridly) and I think if you are already a fan of Beautiful Creatures you will love this novella and the new spin-off book series called Dangerous Creatures.

I give this 4 out of 5.

A Passionate Love Affair with a Total Stranger by Lucy Robinson eBook Review

* I was given a free ecopy of this book for my honest review*

Charley Lambert has put considerable effort into achieving a perfect life. She has The Job. The Wardrobe. And The Flat. Her womanizing, junk food-loving housemate Sam lowers the tone a bit but that aside, things are peachy. Then she breaks her leg in three places, watches her unrequited love propose to someone else and - worst of all - is forced to hand over her job to her nasty deputy while she recovers. Workaholic Charley fears that she will soon go mad. Desperate for something to do, she discovers her talent for helping the lovelorn online. And then William arrives in her inbox. Within hours of his first email, her world starts to change. Helpless, she watches herself fall in love with this man and begins to realize that she's not who she thought she was. But will she be brave enough to turn her back on her old life - all for a total stranger?

About this Lucy Robinson

Prior to writing Lucy earned her crust in theatre production and then factual television, working on documentaries for all of the UK’s major broadcasters. Her writing career began when she started a dating blog for Marie Claire about her fairly pathetic attempts at Internet dating.

Lucy was brought up in Gloucestershire surrounded by various stupid animals. She studied at Birmingham University and lived in London for many years before disappearing off to South America to write her first two novels.

She now lives in Bristol with her partner, The Man. She likes dogs and cheese and horses and seals and cake and baths and she blogs daily about funny things that have made her smile today.

MY REVIEW

I don't often read chick-lit these days. I used to read a lot of it but these days I just really haven't found anything that interest me but when I was asked to review A Passionate Love Affair with a Total Stranger and I had read the synopsis of the book I decided to give this one a chance because it sounded interesting.

I am so happy I gave this one a chance because I just couldn't put it down. Like most chic-lit books this is predictable but I didn't mind because it is very well written and there were some laugh out loud funny parts and it kept me reading until the very end.

If you are into this kind of books then I suggest you read this one.

I give this 5 out of 5
