TheLastOneBanner

TLOEbook   Meghan Hawthorne is restless. The last year has been a roller coaster: her widowed mother just married a long-time family friend. Her younger brother unexpectedly became a father and a husband. Everyone's life is changing. . .except for hers. But the only man for Meghan turns out to be the last one she expects.

Sam Reynolds doesn't need excitement, and he doesn't want romance. Fun is out of the question. He's been the steady, responsible one since his parents were killed, and serious is his way of life.

When Sam rescues Meghan alongside a dark Georgia backroad, she falls hard for his deep brown eyes and slow drawl. But making him see her as more than just a party girl won't be easy. *Review* Day 21 (The 100 Series)By Kass Morgan

*I received this arc ecopy from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review *

It's been 21 days since the hundred landed on Earth. They're the only humans to set foot on the planet in centuries . . . or so they thought.
Facing an unknown enemy, Wells attempts to keep the group together. Clarke strikes out for Mount Weather, in search of other colonists, while Bellamy is determined to rescue his sister, no matter the cost. And back on the ship, Glass faces an unthinkable choice between the love of her life and life itself.
In this pulse-pounding sequel to The 100, secrets are revealed, beliefs are challenged, and relationships are tested. And the hundred will struggle to survive the only way they can -- together.
MY THOUGHTS
I didn't really like this first book and I was hoping that maybe this one would be better but unfortunately it was just a little bit better. It was a ok read but not something I will read again in the future. This book is predictable and I did get bored with it at some parts.
If there will be other books in this series I am not going to read them because I don't think I would enjoy them either.
I know some enjoyed this book but personally I thought it isn't the best book I have read.

*Free Today* Chronicles of Steele By Pauline Creeden

Chronicles1bannerHuman life has value. The poor living in the gutter is as valuable as the rich living in a manor. The scoundrel is no less valuable than the saint. If she settles down and becomes a wife, she might just feel human again. But on the way to the life she thinks she wants, the baron of New Haven asks her to complete a task which she cannot ignore… Just when Raven decides to give up on her life as an assassin, she’s pulled right back in. *Review* Doctor Who: The Crawling Terror By Mike Tucker

*I received this arc ecopy from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review *

Gabby Nichols is putting her son to bed when she hears her daughter cry out. 'Mummy there's a daddy longlegs in my room!' Then the screaming starts... Alan Travers is heading home from the pub when something rushes his face — a spider's web. Then something huge and deadly lumbers from the shadows... Kevin Alperton is on his way to school when he is attacked by a mosquito. A big one. Then things get dangerous.

But it isn't the dead man cocooned inside a huge mass of web that worries the Doctor. It isn't the swarming, mutated insects that make him nervous. It isn't an old man's garbled memories of past dangers that intrigue him.

With the village cut off from the outside world, and the insects becoming more and more dangerous, the Doctor knows that no one is safe. Not unless he can decode the strange symbols engraved on an ancient stone circle, and unravel a mystery dating back to the Second World War.

MY THOUGHTS

Yes I know I have read a bunch of Doctor Who books lately but I just couldn't help myself because I was getting so excited for the new season to start.

Anyways I read this one and I absolutely loved it. I could very well imagine it all and I couldn't stop reading it.

I highly recommend.

*Review* Doctor Who: The Blood Cell By James Goss

*I received this arc ecopy from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review *

An asteroid in the furthest reaches of space - the most secure prison for the most dangerous of criminals. The Governor is responsible for the worst fraudsters and the cruellest murderers. So he's certainly not impressed by the arrival of the man they're calling the most dangerous criminal in the quadrant. Or, as he prefers to be known, the Doctor.

What does impress the Governor is the way the new prisoner immediately sets about trying to escape. And keeps trying. Finally, he sends for the Doctor and asks him why? But the answer surprises even the Governor. And then there's the threat — unless the Governor listens to the Doctor, a lot of people will die.

Who is the Doctor and what's he really doing here? Why does he want to help the Governor? And who is the young woman who comes every day to visit him, only to be turned away by the guards?

When the killing finally starts, the Governor begins to get his answers...

MY THOUGHTS

I have read quite a few Doctor Who books and I have enjoyed pretty much all of them but I didn't enjoy this one as much as the others. It felt like there were loose ends in the story and it wasn't as exciting as most other Doctor Who books I have read. I was disappointing in this one.

*Book Blitz* Unrequited by Emma Grey

Unrequited
by Emma Grey
Release Date: 05/26/14

Summary from Goodreads:
Seventeen-year-old Kat Hartland loathes Unrequited, the world's biggest boy band. Is she the only girl in Sydney who can't be bothered with perfect-looking Angus Marsden?

Give her 5 Seconds of Summer. Now.

Or maybe the seriously-hot med student who rescued her on a train—and who could be Douglas Booth's twin! Perfect formal partner, much?

But when Kat comes face to face with Angus Marsden himself, things start to get complicated. Very. Throw in a deranged female popstar, final exams, a part in the musical and a mum who just doesn't get it—and where is her best friend?

When did life get so crazy? Kat's just an ordinary schoolgirl.

Isn't she?

Book Excerp:
Is he going to kiss her? How would she know? She’s never done this before. Not with anyone. Pop star or otherwise …
He is. He’s going to kiss me. She thought they couldn’t get any closer on this piano stool but she was wrong. His face is near hers now, his green eyes intent. He touches her cheek with his fingers and traces a line to her chin, which he lifts, gently, almost like he’s done this a million times before.
His breath is on her lips and she can actually hear her own heart thudding. She’s sure he can, too, particularly when his other hand finds the curve of her waist and pulls her closer.
There’s nothing rushed about this manoeuvre. Yep. He’s definitely done this before. Maybe two million times. Maybe three million. After all, he’s got at least twenty million followers on social media …

Kat,’ he whispers. ‘Turn your brain off.’

*Cover Reveal* Hemlock Veils by Jennie Davenport

Hemlock Veils
Release Date: 11/25/14
Swoon Romance

Summary from Goodreads:
When Elizabeth Ashton escapes her damaging city life and finds herself in the remote town of Hemlock Veils, Oregon, she is smitten by its quaint mystery; but the surrounding forest holds an enchantment she didn’t think existed, and worse, a most terrifying monster. The town claims it vicious and evil, but Elizabeth suspects something is amiss. Even with its enormous, hairy frame, gruesome claws, and knifelike teeth, the monster’s eyes speak to her: wolf-like and ringed with gold, yet holding an awareness that can only be human. That’s when Elizabeth knows she is the only one who can see the struggling soul trapped inside, the soul to which she is moved.

Secretly, Elizabeth befriends the beast at night, discovering there’s more to his story and that the rising of the sun transforms him into a human more complex than his beastly self. Elizabeth eventually learns that his curse is unlike any other and that a single murderous act is all that stands between him and his freedom. Though love is not enough to break his curse, it may be the only means by which the unimaginable can be done: sacrifice a beauty for the beast.

About the Author
Though Jennie Davenport was raised throughout the Midwest, she now lives in the little desert mining town of Bagdad, Arizona, where six guys beg for her constant attention: a husband, three young, blond sons, a German shepherd with a name much mightier than his disposition (Zeus), and a black cat named Mouse. When she isn’t trying to run her home with as little casualties as possible, Jennie loves snuggling with her family, laughing with her friends, delving into brilliant entertainment of any vein, and playing outside. Despite the way being a writer is in her blood, and the wheels of her writerly mind are constantly turning, Jennie likes to think that in another life, she would have been a Broadway star. Or an American Idol finalist.

Jennie lives for the fall, and not just because of her adoration for the NFL (Go Broncos!). In her perfect world, she would have the springs, summers, and falls of Colorado, and the winters of Arizona—someplace where the climate and weather would allow her to go on a trail run all year round. But even though she prefers the pines and mountains, she is a devoted fan of all nature, from sandy beaches to woodsy cabins, and all are her greatest inspiration. She believes nature is one of the best healing remedies, with a magic all its own.

Jennie’s passion for writing is the way she survives, and is as vital to her sanity as oxygen, caffeine, food, and music. Even before she began writing it, well-told, original, and character-driven romance was always her weak spot. Add the paranormal or magical realism element and she may never make it back to reality.

MY THOUGHTS

I have been a fan of Kelley Armstrong for a few years now and I did read and review the first book in this series (Cainsville series) so I couldn't wait to get my hands on this book. This  is a Fantasy and mystery series.

I read this yesterday and I am so glad I read it on a day I had no plans at all because I just couldn't put it down and I didn't want to. I just wanted to keep reading until it was over.
Some of the questions have been answered but there are so many more now which makes me want to read the next book but unfortunately I will have to wait until the next book comes out.

This is a faced paced book that got me hooked from the very beginning.

I highly recommend this book.

*Review* My Control By Lisa Renee Jones

*I received this arc ecopy from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review *

I have lost the man I once was, letting guilt and heartache define who I am. Darkness has controlled me, and one woman has seen what no one else has seen in me, what I do not wish to exist. My hunger for her has driven me to the edge of sanity, but no more. She's about to find out that the Master has returned.

MY THOUGHTS

My Control is a short novella about Mark & Crystal, written in both POVs.

I just couldn't stop reading this and it is a good thing it was short or else I know I would have stayed up late because I just didn't want to put it down.

I don't read many erotica books but I absolutely love Lisa Renee Jones' writing . I have read most of her books and the Inside Out series is my favourite erotica series.I can't wait to read to read her next book.

I highly recommend.

*Review* Broadchurch by Erin Kelly

*I received this arc ecopy from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review *

In the sleepy British seaside town of Broadchurch, Detective Ellie Miller has just returned from vacation, only to learn that she’s been passed over for a promotion at work in favor of outsider Alec Hardy. He, escaping the spectacular failure of his last case, is having trouble finding his way into this tight-knit community wary of new faces. But professional rivalry aside, both detectives are about to receive some terrible news: 11-year-old Danny Latimer has been found murdered on the beach.

For Ellie it's a personal blow; Danny was her older son’s best friend. She can’t believe anyone in Broadchurch would ever have harmed him. But Alec considers everyone, even Danny’s parents, suspect in his death. It’s a living nightmare for everyone involved…even before the press arrive and start stirring up the secrets every town member keeps hidden behind closed doors.

An intimate portrait of a town and the ordinary grievances that have slowly simmered for years before boiling over in an unthinkable crime, this remarkable adaptation of the hit television show Broadchurch tells the story of a shattered family, a reeling town, and the two imperfect detectives trying to bring them answers.

MY THOUGHTS

I did watch Broadchurch and I really like it so I was happy to review this book.

I really enjoy this book and even though I already knew what was going to happen it kept me reading and I was hooked on this book and couldn't stop reading.  It is very well written and I think if you like crime drama you will love this book.

*Review* The Demeter Code By Russell Brooks

*I received this  ecopy of this in exchange for an honest review *

CRACK THE CODE AND YOU'LL SAVE LIVES...BUT KNOWING IT EXISTS COULD GET YOU KILLED.

When two American embassies in northern Africa are bombed, CIA operatives, Ridley Fox and Nita Parris, are assigned to track down the perpetrators. However, when their top asset is killed in a failed op, the agents suspect that there may be a new threat. Their
search for the truth puts them on a collision course with a powerful multinational—which will go to extreme lengths to bury its criminal activities. However, the agents soon learn that someone with a personal vendetta against that company not only knows their secrets, but will expose them in a way that could result in the largest single-day attack against America.

MY THOUGHTS

You know I don't often read suspense/thriller books often. Not because I don't like them but because I am very picky when it comes to those genre.

I have read and reviewed all of Russell's books so far and I have been a fan since I read his first book so I was very happy to read The Demeter Code.

This book is action packed from beginning to end. It is very well written and made me want to keep reading until the end.

If you are into mystery/thriller books I highly recommend this series .Here are the books in order Pandora's SuccessionUnsavory Delicacies and The Demeter Code.

Book Reviews for Volume 1: Past Reviews of the first volume: Midshipman Henry Galant @2013 "The author has created a wonderful piece of work with his first novel in the Henry Gallant Saga. Between Henry Gallant beginning his new life on the United Planets' battle cruiser Repulse and trying to save the world the author has came up with it all. Henry Gallant is an admirable character with many wonderful features such as courage, intelligence, humility, kindness and special powers. ... the odds stacked against him pretty high. But maybe through it all, Kelsey will see the remarkable things about him." Ashley Patts, Teenage Rush teenagerush.blogspot.com "This story moves along at a swift pace, with interesting character development and plot surprises. The characters are complete and engaging. This could develop into a good series." Rae "Its style and flavor reminded me of The Lost Fleet series by Jack Campbell." - JJH "Space Opera at its finest. Rousing read, introverted young man against impossible odds, a girl to win or lose, an enemy or is he? Way too much fun...can't wait for the next one." - vrzepka
