Whiskey Witches *Promo Post*

WWS1bannerWW-S1-6

Detective Paige Whiskey comes from a long line of witches. They may not all be the most powerful, but they are outspoken and supportive of their community. She alone has no gifts. She can’t summon fire, can’t read minds. She knows the arcane. She’s studied it. That, along with her connection to the Whiskey Witches, lands her some pretty strange cases. Like the sacrificial murders of St. Francisville, Louisiana. There’s a killer on the loose, choosing people in a vain attempt to raise a demon. Not just any demon, though. A man born long ago, made a demon in order to protect the Gate to Hell. Together with demon hunter, Dexx Colt, her kitchen-witch grandmother, and her paranormal investigator brother-in-law, they unravel a conspiracy far bigger than a few simple murders, and re-discover Paige’s gift. She’s a demon summoner and she’s key to the killer’s plan.

2015 Bookish Goals

Well the year is almost over (ALREADY!!) and my blog just turned one a week or so ago and I decided I will share my bookish goals for you all.  I am thinking it will help me to accomplish more of my goals this way.

I was looking at my 2014 Goodreads book challenge and I have noticed I have read 228 book so far this year. Most of those books were books/ebooks I have received for review and from what I can tell I have only read 10 of my own book in the past few years.  I am planning on putting my book challenge to 175 next year (this year my goal was actually 100).

I was looking at my TBR and I do have a lot of books I have bought in the past 2 or 3 years that I have not even read yet so I decided 2015 will be the year I read a lot of my TBR pile.  By the way, I will do a TBR pile of shame post at some point in the next month.

I want to read more classics books.  I haven't read many in all my years as a reader so I think next year will be a good time to start reading more classics.

I am planning on starting to do the book haul posts again but I do get a lot of books and ebooks per month so I am thinking I will do it weekly.  Would you like to see weekly book hauls?

And my last goal I know will be the most difficult because it is not to buy so as many paper books. I would like to try not to buy many books. I really need to get my TBR pile to at least just 50.  I love my paper books but we all know how much room these books take and unfortunately we will most likely be moving in the next few years and won't have enough room to put all mine and my husband's books.

Do you have any bookish goals for 2015? If so please comment below because I love hearing everyone's goals.

The Donor (The Full Novella) by Nikki Rae Review

* I received a free ecopy of this book through NetGalley for my honest review*

They’re getting by fine enough when the headaches start. Then there’s the nosebleeds. And the inevitable doctor’s bills.
Fortunately for Casey, there’s MyTrueMatch.com: an exclusive, quick, and almost easy way to pay it all back before her parents even have to know.
All she has to do is give a man she’s never met whatever he wants from her body.
Inside or out.

MY THOUGHTS

I didn't really know what to expect with this novella because I just requested it without reading the synopsis (yes I do that sometimes).

It is short and an easy read that I did think it was ok  and I had never read anything like this before so I think the story is unique.  It isn't something I would read again though. Don't get me wrong the story is decent but I don't see myself reading it again in the future because I wasn't really drawn to the main character.

I give this 2 out of 5 because I wasn't drawn to the main character.

Confessions Cover

Sylva Fleischer is a teenager who works as a necromancer for a living. Wanting to get away from raising the dead for police investigations and demanding grieving families for a while, she goes on a cruise for spring break. Her vacation from the dead is short-lived when passengers on the ship turn into flesh-eating zombies. These are not the same simple-minded harmless zombies she raises and can control, so Sylva and her friends are trapped on the Pacific Ocean. Their only escape comes from a guy Sylva thought was dead: Brandon. It just so happens to also be the anniversary of his death, and she's still hurting from his loss! Why didn't he call to say he's alive? All those tears … for nothing. Sylva doesn't normally hold grudges, but when someone plays with her heart they have to pay. However, with the fate of the human race on the line, Brandon convinces Sylva to join him in a secret mission, yet she can't shake the feeling that he's hiding something. It didn't take long for her suspicions to hold true when it's revealed that Brandon has been romantically involved with the very enemy he now wants her to destroy. To top that brutal betrayal, the villainous female would rather kill Brandon than let Sylva have a chance to patch things up between them. Sylva is not the kind of girl to walk away from love without a fight, but with a strange virus threatening extinction of human life, she shoves her own feelings in her back pocket to face her greatest nightmare, and that nightmare starts with something that is eerily growing right inside of her own mind and body. *When The Heart Bleeds, Sometimes Your Friends Are All You've Got *

Suspicion By Alexandra Monir Review

*I received a free copy of this book for my honest review*

A modern-day twist on the classic thriller, Rebecca, with a dash of the supernatural, a powerful romance, and a deadly family mystery.

“There’s something hidden in the maze.”

Seventeen-year-old Imogen Rockford has never forgotten the last words her father said to her, before the blazing fire that consumed him, her mother, and the gardens of her family’s English country manor.

For seven years, images of her parents’ death have haunted Imogen’s dreams. In an effort to escape the past, she leaves Rockford Manor and moves to New York City with her new guardians. But some attachments prove impossible to shake—including her love for her handsome neighbor Sebastian Stanhope.

Then a life-altering letter arrives that forces Imogen to return to the manor in England, where she quickly learns that dark secrets lurk behind Rockford’s aristocratic exterior. At their center is Imogen herself—and Sebastian, the boy she never stopped loving.

MY THOUGHTS

I had never heard of this author before but the description sounded interesting so I decided to give it a chance.

I did enjoy this book. I loved the mystery with a hint of romance and it didn't take me long to read it because it was entertaining. I know some reviewers didn't like this book but personally I really did enjoy it. I though it is well written and I loved the fact that most of the book takes place in England . Characters and location are well described and I could very well imagine it all.  Heck I even had a dream about this book last night.

I now want to read more books by this author and I have added all of her books in my to buy list.

I give this 4 out of 5

My Life as a 6th Grade Super Zero #1 BLAST

SuperZerobanner

7523296

My Life as a 6th Grade Super Zero #1 You’d think being a superhero would be cool. And you’re right. It would be cool, especially since the entire world is filled with plain old regular people. Superheroes and supervillains are kind of hard to find, but not as hard as some people like to think. So, anything would be better than being just a normal, everyday 6th grader, right? Wrong. The only thing worse than being an average kid would be what I am, and that is a hero with a totally useless, mega wonky, super power. I’m a dud—a zero. That’s me, Theo Perkins, a 6th grade super-freaking-zero.
