*I received a ARC of this book for my honest review*

Don’t forgive and never forget has always been Peri’s creed. But her day job makes it difficult: she is a drafter, possessed of a rare, invaluable skill for altering time, yet destined to forget both the history she changed and the history she rewrote.

When Peri discovers her name on a list of corrupt operatives, she realizes that her own life has been manipulated by the agency. She joins forces with a mysterious rogue soldier in a deadly race to piece together the truth about her final task, unable to trust even herself.

MY THOUGHTS

I have read one other book by Kim Harrison  but that was a while back.  I did enjoy it so I couldn't wait to get more books by this author.

Anyway, I enjoyed this book. It wasn't one of my favourite book that I read this year but it did keep me entertained and I did enjoy it.
It starts off slow but then by about the middle it picks up and got better.

Would I pick up the next book when it comes out? Most likely.

I give this 3 out of 5.

If you want to purchase this book, it will be available online and in stores near you on September 1st 2015.

Excerpt © Kacey Hammell, 2015
Welcome to Okanogan Valley
Dominic let out a long, deep breath as he passed the sign welcoming him back to his hometown.
Despite his inherent instinct to remain solitary, it was time to return home.
Not exactly excited to be back but knowing it was unavoidable, he drew back on the throttle and accelerated down the open road. The tall trees and dense forest rushed by as he pushed on, his back aching some from being on his Honda Shadow for the last three days.
Five years since he’d been here and yet the route was just as familiar as if he’d ridden it yesterday.
The years had gone by slowly, yet also fast. Time hadn’t healed all his wounds from his father’s untimely death, but the twenty-seven-year-old young man Dominic once was had grown into a man. And he’d finally accepted that he was destined to be Alpha of the pride.
Though it was his rightful spot, he needed to ascertain the direction the vulnerable pride had taken, and whether or not his cousin would step aside without qualm.
The motorcycle lurched as he changed gears. Thinking of Kenneth right now was not the best avenue to take. He’d heard what his cousin had been up to recently, and the urge to wrap his hands around the little shit’s throat was strong.
He’d left the pride in Kenneth’s capable hands—so he thought—and all he’d done was take advantage of his position.
Being a class-A asshole did not breed a great leader.
Dominic didn’t know who he was more pissed off at—himself for asking Kenneth to help him out or Kenneth for being a fuck-up. The new awareness that he should have been more diligent of keeping tabs on the pride gnawed at his nerves.
Winding down the empty road, he couldn’t help admiring the beauty of the mountains around him.
The exquisite sight of the large, beautiful hills and valleys crawled into his heart, wrapping around his soul, and reminding him of all he’d left behind. The rich lands belonged to his family, to the pride, and had for many generations.
His father loved mountains, probably even more so than Dominic did. Thanks to years of exploration and adventure, Dominic knew every inch of the lands of his homeland.
His father, Drago, was the first Alpha ever in the pride of panthers. Although they tend to be a solitary animal, his father had rallied that they band together in the fashion of other cats and create a unified pride. In this day and age, his father had campaigned, we are too vulnerable alone. We need to unify and protect our kind from looming extinction.
Glancing down at his watch, he punched the motorcycle faster in order to make it in time. Today was a very important moment for him and his remaining family.
He was home for good. And come hell or high water, he’d make everything right again.
Dominic wanted to guide and counsel the pride in the same reverent manner his father had, but back then he hadn’t been prepared for his father’s death. He’d needed time on his own to grow and learn. To understand the true ways of the world and respect the pride’s new way of life.
Cresting the last hill, the local community hall came into view. Energy surged through his body at seeing the familiar building and surrounding businesses. He hadn’t truly realized how much he’d missed home until now.
Pulling into a parking spot, he shut down his bike and lifted his arms over his head. Stretching to the left and right, his muscles strained and twisted as he worked out the kinks of the last few days. Unbuckling his helmet, he pushed it up and off, and shook out his hair. He should probably consider a haircut soon, being as the curls bounced against his neck and itched over his ears.
He’d pulled off the highways regularly to clean up and catch a few hours of sleep in motels on the way. There hadn’t been much time for him to do a complete clean up so he’d have to do.
His cell phone vibrated in his front pocket. Withdrawing it, he checked the caller ID and immediately answered.
Hey, everything okay?”
Yeah,” his contact replied on the other end. “Confirming our meet later tonight. Still a go?”
Fucking right. My cousin won’t know what hit him. You get me in and I’ll take care of the rest.” He clenched his fist around the handle bar. “I’d like to kill the prick right now.” Rage nearly choked him. Damn Kenneth for everything.
Rein it in, buddy.”
I’m trying. Taking every ounce of willpower I have not to bust this shit wide open the minute I walk in there.”
You can handle this. Gotta run, am staying out of sight. See you later.”
The call ended. Dominic drew in deep breaths and tried to clear his mind. He’d been trained in one of the most lethal professions out there. Adding his panther to the mix, his anger was boiling heavily. But he couldn’t go into the hall guns blazing. Not when there was so much at stake. The element of surprise was on his side.
Unzipping his leather jacket, he stood and lifted his right leg over the bike, stomping his feet on the cement and getting the circulation moving again. Glancing around the quiet, deserted streets, he breathed in the sweet scent of the lands around him. Dust, wheat from the neighboring fields a mile away, the burned coffee that no doubt came from the Lap It Up Diner down the street, and the sugary richness from the Dairy Barn Ice Cream Parlor on the other side.
Cocking his head, two additional scents caught him unaware. One wrapped him with joy and protection, his heart filling with happiness with the knowledge that his mother was nearby. He had only communicated with her through e-mail and when he’d asked her to come out West to see him for a few days. Today was her special day. He hoped she’d be as pleased to see him back home as he was to be here.
The other scent, however, set his nerves on edge and his breathing ragged. The only other woman who filled his heart with both happiness and uneasiness. She was out of his league, had always been, even though there were few places they’d gone over the years where they weren’t together.
She was his childhood friend, confidante, and also the woman he’d wanted to someday spend forever with. They’d kept their relationship under wraps in the past, but Dominic planned to change that as soon as he could.

The Sisters of Versailles: A Novel (The Mistresses of Versailles Trilogy #1) by Sally Christie *Review*

*I received a eARC of this book through NetGalley for my honest review*

A sumptuous and sensual tale of power, romance, family, and betrayal centered around four sisters and one King. Carefully researched and ornately detailed, The Sisters of Versailles is the first book in an exciting new historical fiction trilogy about King Louis XV, France's most "well-beloved" monarch, and the women who shared his heart and his bed.

Goodness, but sisters are a thing to fear.

Set against the lavish backdrop of the French Court in the early years of the 18th century, The Sisters of Versailles is the extraordinary tale of the five Nesle sisters: Louise, Pauline, Diane, Hortense, and Marie-Anne, four of whom became mistresses to King Louis XV. Their scandalous story is stranger than fiction but true in every shocking, amusing, and heartbreaking detail.

Court intriguers are beginning to sense that young King Louis XV, after seven years of marriage, is tiring of his Polish wife. The race is on to find a mistress for the royal bed as various factions put their best foot - and women - forward. The King's scheming ministers push Louise, the eldest of the aristocratic Nesle sisters, into the arms of the King. Over the following decade, the four sisters:sweet, naive Louise; ambitious Pauline; complacent Diane, and cunning Marie Anne, will conspire, betray, suffer, and triumph in a desperate fight for both love and power.

MY THOUGHTS

I do not often read historical fiction but I do love reading the genre. I am just picky when it comes to this genre.

Just from reading the description of this book it made me want to read it because it sounded so interesting and I am glad I read it because I just couldn't put it down.

It is very well written and sucked me into the story right away.  I can't wait to read the next book .

If you are into Historical fiction I highly recommend this book.

I give this book 4 out of 5

If you want to purchase this book, it will be available online and in book stores near you on September 1st 2015.

Accidentally Seduced by Carmen Falcone

A spy, a thief and a CEO…Be Accidentally Seduced Carmen Falcone!
Coming August 25th is the third novel in the Naked Truth series, Accidentally Seduced from Carmen Falcone! Read about a man trying to become the CEO, a assistant who is really spying on her boss and both are trying to stay ahead of a thief determined to rob the company blind.

About ACCIDENTALLY SEDUCED

Devon Wilder wants to leave the scandal involving his name behind and focus on the race for the CEO title. Yet, his sexy assistant is an unexpected and dangerous liability—especially after he suspects she could be the one stealing money from the company.
Elena Moretti’s libido was comatose until Devon strode into her life. Ever since the end of a troubled marriage, she never wanted any man the way she does him. Unfortunately for her, Devon is also the man she’s been hired to spy on and find evidence to prove he’s embezzling and dragging Wilder & Co.’s name through the mud.
As the hunt for the real thief advances, they need to figure out if they’ll cling to old fears or throw themselves at the new, tempting opportunities—and each other.

Accidently Seduced excerpt:

“We’ll go over there”—she pointed at the forested area—“and you will touch and feel a tree, then your partner will lead you away. Then you will remove the blindfold and try to relocate the same tree you hugged.”
Hhhmmm… Okay.” She placed her hands on her waist. “It all sounds great, but most peeps are in pairs already or doing other activities.” Any other activity sounded better than having a coworker lead her anywhere.
I’m free,” said a deep voice behind her, awakening all her nerve endings.
Janie crossed something off her clipboard and smiled. “Perfect. Get her eyes covered then join us to the left. It will start in a few minutes.”
Elena turned around, the anticipation alone a dangerous venom skating into her bloodstream. The moment her gaze landed on his, a part of her softened into a warm bread pudding, straight out of the oven. Shit. What the hell was happening? “We don’t have to do this.”
He flashed her a smile. “I’m supposed to mingle with the employees,” he said casually.
I don’t think we need any extra…mingling.”
He held her stare, and even though she wanted to will herself away from him, she couldn’t. Her body balked, and she was scared her treacherous, throbbing heart would spill out of her mouth if she choked out a word.
The sound of a whistle almost made her jump, and she glanced at the group. Almost everyone was ready, and Janie was in full-on recreational mode, no doubt enjoying being the one to boss everyone around. Crap. Leaving would probably be a bigger deal than staying.
This is just a friendly game of trust. You trust me, right?” he mocked.
Not one bit.”
Good. That means you need to play. Turn around.” He gestured with his hand, and she did as commanded. He erased the distance between them, and again that dangerous energy twirled around her. She closed her eyes, licking her lips like she was about to eat an ice cream cone. Maybe dark chocolate gelato.
When he put the soft fabric on her, a delightful shiver coursed through her, and her skin prickled as if said ice cream had melted on her flesh. Or, maybe, it was just the man who was exponentially yummier than any icy treat. A sound yanked her from her reverie. It was the clearing of a throat, but she couldn’t know for sure if it had come from her or him. Opening her eyes, she could barely see the sunlight. Her eyelashes rubbed on the blindfold, and she realized then how vulnerable she was to him. Even when she couldn’t see him. Maybe even more so. She caught a whiff of his male scent, the lingering fragrance teasing her.
A game of trust. She could laugh at the irony—and almost did. A nervous chuckle escaped her lips before she could stop it.
See? You’re having fun already,” he said, and her blood went on a low simmer.

Sustained (The Legal Briefs #2) by Emma Chase *Review*

* I received a eARC of this book for my honest review*

A knight in tarnished armor is still a knight.

When you’re a defense attorney in Washington, DC, you see firsthand how hard life can be, and that sometimes the only way to survive is to be harder. I, Jake Becker, have a reputation for being cold, callous, and intimidating—and that suits me just fine. In fact, it’s necessary when I’m breaking down a witness on the stand.

Complications don’t work for me—I’m a “need-to-know” type of man. If you’re my client, tell me the basic facts. If you’re my date, stick to what will turn you on. I’m not a therapist or Prince Charming—and I don’t pretend to be.

Then Chelsea McQuaid and her six orphaned nieces and nephews came along and complicated the ever-loving hell out of my life. Now I'm going to Mommy & Me classes, One Direction concerts, the emergency room, and arguing cases in the principal's office.

Chelsea’s too sweet, too innocent, and too gorgeous for her own good. She tries to be tough, but she’s not. She needs someone to help her, defend her…and the kids.

And that — that, I know how to do.

MY THOUGHTS

Doesn't the description sound great?  Well I thought it sounded like something I would like and I am so happy I read this one .

I had never read any books by Emma Chase before I read Sustained and I was a little worried that I might be confused while reading this book because these books can be read as stand alone but I liked this book so much that I want to get my hands on the other books ASAP!!!!

I thought it was very well done and I loved this book.  It got my so hooked into it that I just had to read it all in one sitting.

If you are looking into a sweet, sexy and hilarious contemporary romance book than I highly recommend this book.

I give this 5 out of 5 .

If you want to purchase this book, it will be available online and in stores near you on August 25th 2015.

Bout of Books 14.0 Day Seven and Wrap Up

Bout of Books

Yesterday was day seven and unfortunately I read just 10 pages of The Drafter. I couldn't get much reading done yesterday because we were out most of the morning and afternoon.  I didn't even listen to my audiobook because I forgot it at home.  Oh well,  At least I got plenty of reading done last week.

Here is what I read during Bout Of Books 14.0:

Sweet Magic Song (For Love of Fae #1) by

Also I was already halfway through Dime Store Magic before this read-a-thon started but I read the other half during this past week .

I also had about 30% of Dragonfly In Amber left to read before the week had started and I am happy to say I finished that as well.

As you can see I got a LOT of reading done.  It helped that for 2 nights I had a hard time sleeping so I did a lot of reading on those nights.

Did you take part in Bout Of Books 14.0?  How many books did you read?

Bout Of Books 14.0 Day Six

Yesterday  afternoon I didn't read because I had to go grocery shop and then my husband wanted to watch a few episodes Supernatural and since I love that show too I watched it with him.

I did end up reading Led Astray: The Best of Kelley Armstrong .  I was planning on listening to Down These Strange Streets while I was grocery shopping but I didn't .

Today I will try and read about 100 pages of The Drafter but not sure if I will be able to because it is going to be a busy day.

Brave the Heat (The McGuire Brothers #1) by Sara Humphreys *Review*

*I received a eARC of this book for my honest review*

The only fire he can’t put out…

Jordan McKenna is back in town, and Fire Chief Gavin Maguire’s feelings when he sees her after all these years are as raw as the day she left. Then he was just a kid wearing his heart on his sleeve. Now he spends every day trying to atone for the tragedy he couldn’t prevent.

Is the torch he carries for her...

Jordan’s life has not exactly worked out the way she expected. A divorced mother of two with a failed acting career, Jordan’s biggest concern about coming back to Old Brookfield was seeing her first love. But when a series of suspicious fires breaks out, Jordan and Gavin realize that dealing with the sparks between them may be the least dangerous of their problems.

MY THOUGHTS

I was in the mood to read a good quick romance book . Brave the Heat (The McGuire Brothers #1) by Sara Humphreys sounded interesting enough.

It didn't take me long to read this. It is a little over 300 pages but I read it all in one afternoon because I was enjoying it so much that I didn't want to put it down.

I give this 4 out of 5

This book will be available September 1st .

Bout Of Books 14.0 Day Five

Bout of Books

Day Five was a good day.  I finished reading Dime Store Magic (only had 150 or so pages left to read) and last night I also read the last 20% of Dragonfly In Amber.

I woke up at 12am and I was wide awake so I started reading a few pages of Led Astray: The Best of Kelley Armstrong on my Kindle.

Today is grocery shopping day for me so I will have a few hours I will not be reading so I might listen to some

Down These Strange Streets while I am doing that but we will see if I actually  will because I have a hard time listening to audiobooks.

If I do have time before and after grocery shopping I will try and read some

The Drafter (this book I have to review in early September).

About the Author
I have always been drawn to story telling. In fact, I can’t remember a time when I wasn’t telling a story in my head or on paper. In grade school, we had journal writing time which I turned into story telling time, weaving tales of magic and adventure that mimicked the fairy tales and myths that I loved to read. It was there, with the help of two very special teachers, that I nurtured this love and started my journey as a writer.

I write fantasy, paranormal romance, and everything in between, seasoned with a good dash of adventure and mystery. Join me on my tales of magic, adventure, and romance.
